Patrice Motsepe, President of the African Football Confederation (CAF), expressed his pride in the level shown by the African national teams during the 2026 World Cup competitions, affirming that the continent now possesses teams capable of competing with the best teams in the world.

Motsepe said during the press conference he held today in Johannesburg, South Africa: "I am very proud of the African teams' participation in the 2026 World Cup tournament in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico".

He added: "The performance of the African teams in the World Cup has proven that we have the ability to be among the best teams in the world, and it suffices to look at what the Egyptian team presented against Argentina".

He continued: "Likewise, what the Cape Verde team presented against Argentina confirms that the African continent possesses teams capable of reaching the highest levels, despite the small population of that country".

He concluded: "I am very proud of the Egyptian team and what it presented in the World Cup, as well as of all the African teams that appeared in a distinguished manner in the biggest football event, and I was also pleased by the achievement made by the Moroccan team in reaching the quarter-finals".

The President of the African Confederation concluded his statements by saying: "We must continue working, developing, and building on what was achieved in the World Cup, and next year we will witness the African Cup of Nations being held in Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya, and I am confident that we will see further development in African football".
