Egyptian professional Mohamed Abdelmonem, defender of French club Nice, is preparing to participate in collective training with his team, in preparation for the start of the new 2026-2027 season.
The 27-year-old had been with the Egypt national team to participate in the 2026 World Cup, which was recently held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Abdelmonem participated in Egypt's match against Iran, in the third round of the group stage, before suffering an injury in the match that ended in a 1-1 draw.
The tournament saw Egypt exit in the round of 16, after losing to Argentina 3-2.
Abdelmonem's return date
"Yalla Koura" contacted Malo Guéniec, the official spokesperson for French club Nice, to discuss the Egyptian international's return date to collective training before the start of the new season.
Malo Guéniec said: "Mohamed Abdelmonem will return to training tomorrow, Wednesday, after participating in the World Cup and taking his vacation."
Abdelmonem is seeking to secure his place in Nice's squad during the new season, after his anterior cruciate ligament tear injury, which he suffered in the season before last, affected his journey with the team.
Abdelmonem did not play for Nice last season due to the injury, but he has played a total of 17 matches since joining the team in the summer of 2024.
The truth about Al Ahly's offer
A source at Al Ahly revealed, in statements to "Yalla Koura" on Tuesday evening, that there has been contact between the Red Castle officials and Mohamed Abdelmonem, to discuss the possibility of his return to the team.
Al Ahly's desire to regain Abdelmonem, who is under contract with Nice until the summer of 2028, comes to bolster the defense line during the upcoming season.
Malo Guéniec responded in his statements to "Yalla Koura" that he is not aware, until this moment, of any official offer from Al Ahly to sign Mohamed Abdelmonem, whether on loan or a permanent transfer.
"Yalla Koura" had learned earlier that Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta wants to bolster the defense line during the current summer transfer window.
Al Ahly's management has completed four official deals so far, signing Enppi's duo Akram Abdel Allah and Ali Mahmoud, in addition to signing Moroccan Sofiane Benjdida from Maghreb Fez, and Algerian Monsef Bougherra from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.
