Yassine Bounou, the Moroccan national team goalkeeper, praised the amazing level presented by Lionel Messi, the Argentine captain, on the night of the victory over Egypt, with a result of (3-2), within the round of 16 competitions of the 2026 World Cup tournament.

The Argentine national team was trailing by two goals, before Messi managed to turn the tables by creating the first goal and scoring the second, before Enzo Fernandez managed to score the third in the dying moments.

Bounou said in statements after the Morocco-France match in which his country's team fell, with two goals without reply: "I liked the fighting spirit shown by the Argentine national team against Egypt, especially what Lionel Messi did, as he is an amazing player."

He added: "We saw what Messi did after missing the penalty kick, he regained himself and was able to carry the team on his shoulders at this age, he is definitely a wonderful player."

He continued: "We are currently seeing another Messi, playing with freedom without restrictions or goals, he has achieved a lot, and is currently playing for fun, and we as players or fans, must enjoy him, it is a pleasure for me to watch him."

He concluded by saying: "I congratulate the Argentine national team on what it did, and I wish them success in the upcoming matches."

It is worth noting that Bounou saved a penalty kick against Kylian Mbappe on the night of saying goodbye to the World Cup in the quarter-final round at the hands of France.
