Spanish star Dani Olmo, Barcelona and Spain national team player, revealed the most prominent teams that caught his attention during the 2026 World Cup competitions, pointing out that the Egyptian national team was among the surprises that impressed him during the tournament, which "La Roja" won after defeating Argentina in the final match.
Olmo said in a special interview with the Spanish newspaper "Diari de Terrassa": "The Cape Verde national team was the biggest surprise, but Egypt and Paraguay also surprised me. I also liked the Norwegian national team a lot."
Egypt exited the World Cup with great difficulty after losing 2-3 to Argentina in the round of 16.
The Spanish national team succeeded in winning the World Cup after an exceptional journey, which it ended without suffering any defeat, and also conceded only one goal throughout the tournament, so Olmo confirmed that the secret of success was the strength of the group and prioritizing the collective interest over any individual considerations.
The player added: "The group and collective work above everything, and at the level of the major teams the differences are very small, so turning the national team into one family, from the players, the technical staff and the workers, makes the difference."
Olmo confirmed that winning the World Cup was a dream come true, stressing that the Spanish players did not only believe in their ability to win, but were actually convinced that they possessed the necessary capabilities to achieve their goal.
After succeeding in winning the World Cup, along with the European Championship and the UEFA Nations League with his country's national team in the last three years, Olmo aspires to continue winning titles with his club Barcelona.
Regarding his goals with the Catalan team, he said: "The goal now is the same in every season, winning everything with Barcelona and with the national team."
Olmo also touched on the competition within Barcelona, confirming that the new deals will increase the team's strength, saying: "Competition always makes the group better."
