Behind the scenes of the European Union meeting before the Super match

Via Yallakora

English press reports revealed details of the meeting held between many prominent figures in European football, headed by Aleksander Ceferin, President of UEFA, and Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President of the European Club Association.

This meeting took place before the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa in the European Super Cup final yesterday, Wednesday, which ended with a 2-1 victory for the Parisian side.

The English newspaper "talkSPORT" confirmed that the meeting featured numerous discussions about the future of FIFA, particularly from Ceferin, who stressed the need for a change in leadership within FIFA, while the talks continued over lunch before the European Super Cup match.

According to the English newspaper, the talks were positive and marked by UEFA's determination to hold Infantino accountable over the proposal he had previously demanded, as UEFA will accept nothing less than Infantino's immediate resignation or withdrawal of his candidacy before the March elections.

Ceferin expressed his readiness to lead a vote of no confidence, which requires the support of 43 members to trigger an emergency vote, should Infantino remain in charge without deciding to step down, as many attendees viewed this step as logical and more practical than a boycott.

Infantino's alternative

The reports indicated that UEFA is prepared to back other candidates to challenge Infantino, with North, Central American and Caribbean Football Confederation President Victor Montagliani and Asian Football Confederation President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa among the potential options.
