Basketball – Egypt's youth team loses to New Zealand at the start of its World Cup journey

Egypt's U17 women's basketball team lost its first match in the World Cup under 17 years against New Zealand by a score of 79-65.

The tournament is held in the Czech Republic during the period from July 11 to 19, in a match against its New Zealand counterpart.

The women's basketball youth team tops the fourth group, alongside Italy, Canada, and New Zealand, with the four teams qualifying for the round of 16.

The roster includes: Maryam Hazem, Judy Walid, Hania Nasser, Judy Mohamed, Fatima Mohamed Hassan, Leila Hossam, Hala Moataz, Sidra Haitham, Zeina Ayman Halim, Dana Sherif Geneidi, Habiba Karim Shorour, Habiba Jamal.

The technical staff includes: Mohamed Mahrous as technical director, Nihal Saad as general coach, Magdy Salama as coach, Ahmed Gwaily as specialist, Farid Samir as load coach, Dr. Fatima Jamal as physician, Mona Mohamed as team administrator.

The Egyptian women's youth team mission is headed by Mohamed Ehab Mohsen, member of the board of directors of the Egyptian Basketball Federation.

It is worth noting that Egypt's U17 women's basketball team qualified for the World Cup finals under 17 years after winning the African title under 16 years last year at the expense of Ivory Coast.
