Barcelona is awaiting a financial boost during the summer transfer window, after Moroccan international Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Real Betis winger, has strongly entered the radar of Italian Roma in a deal that could reach 60 million euros.
According to what was revealed by "Sport" newspaper the Spanish, Roma has started negotiations with Real Betis to sign Ezzalzouli, after his attempts to sign Antonio Nusa, Leipzig player, faltered, as the Italian club is preparing to submit an offer worth 55 million euros, in addition to 5 million euros as incentives, which is close to the value of the player's release clause.
The report indicated that Real Betis management does not object to selling the player, but it requires his personal approval, in addition to the offer reaching the value of the release clause amounting to 60 million euros.
Barcelona is following the developments of the deal with great interest, not because of its desire to regain the player, but because of the financial gains it may reap from the sale, as the Catalan club still owns 20% of Ezzalzouli's economic rights, which means it could receive about 11 million euros if the deal is completed at the expected value.
The report clarified that Barcelona had initially sold 50% of the player's rights to Real Betis for 7.5 million euros, before relinquishing an additional 30% as part of the agreement that allowed the termination of Vitor Roque's loan and his transfer to Palmeiras, while retaining 20% of the economic rights.
Despite interest from a number of Premier League clubs, such as Newcastle and Aston Villa, the latter withdrew from the idea of signing the player after signing Alejandro Garnacho, while Newcastle continues to monitor the situation, at a time when Roma appears closest to concluding the deal.
"Sport" added that Ezzalzouli also received offers from the Saudi league, but he prefers to continue his career in Europe, while Barcelona did not consider re-signing him this summer, despite Hans Flick's interest in strengthening the winger position, after the club succeeded in signing Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi.
