Algeria national team settles for a draw against Burundi in AFCON qualifiers

Via Yallakora

The Algerian national team fell into the trap of a disappointing draw against their Burundian counterparts, with both teams scoring two goals each, in a match played as part of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The Algerian team conceded an early goal in the fifth minute via an own goal, after Farès Chaïbi attempted to pass the ball back, but it found its way into the Algerian goalkeeper's net.

In an unexpected surprise, the Burundian team did not delay in doubling their lead, scoring a second goal in the 12th minute by exploiting a defensive marking error.

The Desert Warriors waited until the 29th minute to reduce the deficit, thanks to Mohamed Bachir Belloumi, who scored his first goal wearing the national team jersey, bringing his teammates back into the game.

During the second half, the Algerian team continued to apply pressure and maintain possession, until Boulebina managed to equalize in the 62nd minute, executing a direct free kick from approximately 20 meters in a splendid manner, securing the draw for the Greens.

With this disappointing draw, Algeria's points total rose to four, placing them at the top of the group, while Burundi reached one point, sitting in third place.

In the same group and round of the AFCON qualifiers, the Togolese national team will play against their Zambian counterparts on Tuesday evening.
