The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that Arsène Wenger, FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development, will join African coaches at the upcoming conference to be held in Cape Verde this October.
The former Arsenal manager will join an elite group of coaches who led African national teams to notable successes at the 2026 World Cup, most notably Hossam Hassan, Bubista, the coach of Cape Verde, and Sébastien Desabre, the coach of the Democratic Republic of Congo, during an information-rich discussion session within the CAF Strategy Conference scheduled for next week.
The CAF Strategy Conference, which will be held in Cape Verde from October 7 to 9, will bring together coaches from the 54 member associations in Africa, football legends, and stakeholders under one roof to discuss ways to drive the development of football on the continent.
CAF will announce the schedule and program of the live-streamed events in due course.
CAF confirms the holding of the discussion session moderated by Wenger regarding the 2026 World Cup, a tournament that witnessed a historic achievement for Africa with nine of its ten participating national teams advancing to the knockout stages.

"Bubista" – the true architect of Cape Verde's heroic achievements at the global finals – has become a prominent and well-known name; returning to his homeland, the coach will present insights and analyses related to his team's performance during the tournament.
Mohamed Wahbi also led the Moroccan national team to the quarter-finals, thereby reaffirming the status of the "Atlas Lions" as one of the leading national teams globally.
As for Hossam Hassan – Egypt's former striker and current head coach of the senior national team – he led the "Pharaohs" to their first-ever World Cup victory and played a pivotal role in the team's journey, which included an exciting and breath-taking match against Argentina, where the Egyptian team took a two-goal lead until the final moments of the game.
In turn, Sébastien Desabre took charge of the Democratic Republic of Congo national team.
