The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has made several new amendments to the regulations for the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup for the current 2026-2027 season.
The CAF Executive Committee, chaired by CAF President Patrice Motsepe, held a virtual meeting on Friday evening to adopt several new decisions.
Among the key issues discussed by CAF officials was the review of the regulations for African club competitions for the current season, with the main round scheduled to begin next November.
In an official statement, CAF announced three amendments to the regulations for African club competitions, as follows:
1 - Player registration and eligibility
Players are permitted to play for more than one club during a single season of the African club competitions.
2 - Number of registered players
Each club is allowed to register up to 40 players at any time during the season. Clubs are also permitted to replace four (4) players during the final registration window, provided that these players have not participated in any match within the African club competitions during the same season.
3 - Disciplinary matters
All disciplinary matters will be referred directly to the Disciplinary Committee, officially transferring this responsibility from the Club Competitions Committee.
Egyptian clubs Zamalek and Pyramids FC are participating in the CAF Champions League this season, while Al Ahly and Zed FC are competing in the CAF Confederation Cup.
