Egypt's U-20 national team, born in 2007, lost to their Moroccan counterparts by two goals without reply, in the match held between them this Saturday evening, as part of the fourth round of the North African qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations under 20 years old in Ghana.
Egypt's points tally remained at 6 from 3 matches, placing them second in the qualifying standings, while Morocco increased their points to 7 at the top, officially securing qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations for youth teams.
In another match in the same round, Tunisia drew with Libya 1-1, raising the Eagles of Carthage's points to 3 in fourth place, while Libya's points reached one in fifth and last place.
With this result, the chances of both the Tunisian and Libyan teams to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations for youth teams vanished, narrowing the competition for the two qualification spots to Morocco, Egypt, and Algeria.
Algeria occupies third place with 4 points, having played 3 matches so far.
Egypt will conclude its qualifying campaign against Algeria on October 6, as part of the fifth and final round, at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium.
In the same round, Morocco will face Libya, where Egypt and Algeria compete for the second spot qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations, after Morocco has already officially secured qualification.
