Egypt's youth team's chances of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations after losing to Morocco

Egypt's U-20 national team suffered a defeat against Morocco in the match held between them today, Saturday, as part of the North African qualifiers.

The Egyptian national team faced Morocco within the framework of the fourth round of matches in the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations finals to be held in Ghana.

Egypt lost 2-0 to Morocco, leaving their points tally at 6 after victories over Libya and Tunisia.

The North African qualifiers are currently being held in Egypt, with the participation of Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya; the top two teams will qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place during February and March 2027.

Morocco currently tops the North African qualifiers standings with 7 points and has officially qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt's chances of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations

One match remains for Egypt against Algeria next Tuesday, October 6.

- Egypt needs to secure a victory over Algeria to guarantee official qualification, awaiting the result of the Morocco vs. Libya match to determine whether they finish first or second.

- If Egypt also draws, they will officially qualify in second place with 7 points.

- However, in case of a loss, Algeria will qualify alongside Morocco, because in this scenario Egypt would have 6 points and Algeria 7 points.
