The club clarified: "This decision was made through joint coordination, given the conditions under which the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match would have been played, particularly the artificial turf pitch, and out of both parties' desire not to risk the player's health."

It continued: "Nice is doing its utmost to ensure that Mohamed – like all its international players – joins his national team and represents it under the best possible conditions, while paying special attention to their health, recovery processes, and physical safety."

The club added: "The club would like to thank the Egyptian national team's technical staff for their good communication, understanding, and efforts made with Mohamed during the camp period."

It concluded: "Mohamed will now continue working with Nice in preparation for upcoming commitments under the best possible conditions."
