The past few hours have seen Yasser Ibrahim, defender of Al-Ahly and the Egyptian national team, linked with a move to the Saudi Roshn League via Al-Shabab Club during the current summer transfer window.
The 33-year-old was among coach Hossam Hassan’s options for the 2026 World Cup, which was recently held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
This edition saw Yasser Ibrahim score a header against the Argentine national team in the round of 16, which the “Tango” team won 3-2.

Offer from Al-Shabab
A source inside Al-Ahly revealed that Al-Shabab submitted an offer to buy Yasser Ibrahim’s contract for one million dollars, as the Egyptian international’s contract expires in the summer of 2027.
The source added, in exclusive statements to “Yalla Koura,” that the Saudi capital club presented the player with a financial offer in exchange for an annual salary of one million and six hundred thousand dollars, with the contract lasting two seasons.
In response, Al-Ahly rejected the offer, given the player’s importance within the squad and his status as a key element, in addition to the football officials’ desire to renew the player’s contract.
The source indicated that Al-Ahly’s offer included the player receiving a salary of 25 million pounds, as the “Red Castle” officials await the player’s response, whether acceptance or rejection.
Amotta’s stance
As mentioned, Yasser Ibrahim is a key element within the Al-Ahly squad, which will make Moroccan coach Hussein Amotta hold on to the player, especially since the coach requested reinforcement for the back line.
“Yalla Koura” learned earlier that the Moroccan coach wants to strengthen the defensive line during the current summer transfer window, which prompted the football officials to turn to a foreign option.
Although Al-Ahly’s management reinforced the defense last January with two local players, Hadi Riyad from Petrojet and Amr Al-Gazzar from Al-Bank Al-Ahly, Amotta is not convinced by the current options in the back line.
The local market lacks defenders who have caught the attention of Al-Ahly’s football officials, making the foreign option the most prominent, especially after the imminent departure of Tunisian international Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane to the Qatari north.
“Yalla Koura” learned earlier that Ben Romdhane’s departure from Al-Ahly will prompt the “Red Castle” officials to utilize the foreign player’s slot to sign a defender to bolster the back line.
Al-Shabab’s stance
“Yalla Koura” contacted a responsible source inside Al-Shabab Club to discuss the capital club’s position on signing Yasser Ibrahim during the current summer transfer window.
The source clarified that Yasser Ibrahim is among the targets of the “Capital’s Lion” to strengthen the defense, but the chances of signing him have slightly decreased after the management signed two foreign players in the past period.
Al-Shabab’s management signed Croatian defender Tin Jedvaj, coming from Panathinaikos, then recently signed Senegalese defender Mamadou Barry, coming from Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on loan with an option to buy.
The source—who preferred not to be named—indicated that Al-Shabab’s management wants to strengthen the team with other foreign elements in different positions, which makes the file of signing Yasser Ibrahim not a priority at the moment.
The source revealed that among the positions required to strengthen the team is the goalkeeper position, with Portuguese player Luís Maximiano among the most prominent candidates to join the team on loan from Neom’s ranks.
If the signing of Neom’s goalkeeper does not materialize, Al-Shabab will turn to the alternative option of signing a local goalkeeper, with Al-Nassr goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi among the most prominent candidates.
There are also negotiations with Colombian player Roger Martínez, the former Al-Taawoun striker, to sign him this summer on a free transfer, according to what the source revealed to “Yalla Koura.”
Looking at Al-Shabab’s squad list, we find that the “Lions” have 8 foreign players, which makes signing Yasser Ibrahim difficult, given the priority within the Al-Shabab management to strengthen the team with foreign signings in other positions, specifically: goalkeeping, midfield, and attack.
