Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, revealed Mohamed Salah's status regarding participation in the match against Australia, scheduled to be held as part of the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup.

Hossam Hassan explained that Salah suffered a hamstring strain during the match against Iran, and the player himself requested to be substituted, confirming that the medical staff dealt with the injury from the first moment.

The head coach of the Egyptian national team said in statements during the press conference before the Australia match: "Mohamed Salah felt a strain in his hamstring against Iran, so he requested the substitution, and he received intensive treatment with the medical staff."

He added that the team captain gradually returned to training through a special rehabilitation program, explaining: "His first actual involvement was yesterday through a special program, and he is a player with passion."

He continued: "I will certainly not risk him unless I feel he is capable of being in the match, but he will definitely be included in the squad and will be with us."

The Egyptian national team is preparing to face Australia, in a match where the Pharaohs seek to continue their journey in the World Cup and reach the next round of the tournament.
