Zamalek's legal advisor: Translating His Excellency's letter was our right

Mohamed Metwally, the former legal advisor to Zamalek Club, revealed details of the ruling in the case involving Abdel Hamid Maali, the club's former player.

Maali obtained a ruling against Zamalek Club, establishing his right to receive $611,000 due to the unilateral termination of his contract.

The ruling concerning Abdel Hamid Maali was issued on July 30th last year, granting Zamalek the right to appeal within one month from the date the decision was received. Zamalek has indeed exercised this right, and the remaining procedural steps of the case are yet to be determined.

Speaking during an interview on Modern MTAI channel, Mohamed Metwally said: "We requested a translation of the sanction letter regarding Maali, because his contract stipulated that in the event of a legal dispute, the language would be English, not French. This is our right and it did not affect the course of the case."

He added: "I do not know if my discussion of details in the case is accurate, as the matter remains under dispute until now."

He continued: "All our requests in the defense memorandum against Maali were heard. It is not my role to pay for the club's cases; I only provide legal consultations. The financial crisis is the reason behind all of this."

He concluded: "We took all the correct steps to avoid any suspensions due to these cases. There is no explicit clause stating that a disciplinary registration ban applies when a certain number of players' contracts are terminated. We absolutely did not expect this ruling to be issued against Zamalek."
