A source from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed the truth regarding rumors about postponing or relocating the upcoming edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda are scheduled to host the tournament between June 19 and July 17, 2027.
The CAF source told FilGoal.com: "There is no intention to relocate or postpone the Africa Cup of Nations. For now, the tournament will take place as scheduled."
He added, "We are monitoring with the local committees in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania the readiness of the three countries to host the tournament."
He emphasized, "We will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the countries' files at the end of this year to determine their readiness to host the tournament."
He continued, "Motsepe is determined to hold the tournament on schedule and in the three countries, and therefore he will provide all possible support to them."
However, he noted, "If it becomes clear at the beginning of the new year that the three countries face difficulties in terms of readiness, we will certainly turn to other solutions."
He concluded his remarks by saying, "Alternative plans will certainly be ready, and the tournament might be moved to a single country prepared for the event, but we will not rush; we will wait until the beginning of the new year to assess the situation."
The Egyptian national team holds the record for winning the Africa Cup of Nations with seven titles.
Egypt finished fourth in the most recent edition of the Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco in 2025.
Egypt is placed in Group Two of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers alongside Angola, South Sudan, and Malawi.
