Al Ahly Club announced in an official statement that Moroccan star Youssef Belamri, the left-back of the Red Devils, successfully underwent ACL surgery in Germany, with hopes of returning to the pitch in the coming months.

Successful surgery for Belamri

Al Ahly Club stated in an official statement via its "Facebook" account: "Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, head of Al Ahly's medical staff, announced that Youssef Belamri, a player for the club's first football team, underwent successful knee surgery."

He added: "The surgery involved arthroscopic reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament in the right leg, under the supervision of German expert Christian Prall, at one of Munich's hospitals."

He continued: "Dr. Alaa Mamoun, deputy head of Al Ahly Club's medical staff, accompanied him on the trip. The player is scheduled to leave the hospital within 48 hours and head to Morocco to undergo the first phase of rehabilitation in coordination with the Moroccan national team's medical staff."

The Moroccan left-back had suffered an ACL tear during Al Ahly's friendly match against Spanish team Badalona, as part of the team's preparation camp in Spain.

Moroccan coach Hossam El Moutawakel relies on Karim Fawaz in the left-back position in the team's matches, as the player appeared in this position in the Reds' first league match against Sharqia Enppi.

Al Ahly had signed Tawfik Mohamed, the former left-back of Petrojet Club, to strengthen this position following Belamri's ACL injury.
