Lamine Yamal, the star of the Spanish national team, affirmed that he does not feel satisfied with his current level in the 2026 World Cup, stressing that he is capable of delivering a better performance during the decisive rounds, and also expressed his welcome for the Argentine Julian Alvarez joining Barcelona, considering that he fits with the team's playing style.

Greater Ambition

Yamal said, in an interview with the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, that he is always strict with himself and is not content with what he delivers on the pitch, adding: "I know that I can deliver a better performance, and what I am currently delivering is not enough for me, and I have not reached my goal whether with Barcelona or with the national team."

He explained that he is still regaining his readiness after an absence of nearly two months due to injury, confirming that the upcoming matches will be an opportunity to show the best version of himself, especially with the tournament entering its decisive stages.

Without Pressure

The 18-year-old indicated that he does not consider the great confidence he enjoys within the Spanish national team a burden, but rather a motivation to deliver the best, noting that he deals with criticism calmly and considers it an incentive for development, without paying much attention to what is said about him.

Yamal confirmed that the victory over Portugal gave the Spanish national team a great moral boost before facing Belgium in the quarter-finals, but he stressed that all World Cup matches are different and that the team is focusing only on continuing its path toward the title.

He explained that his goal on the pitch is not limited to scoring goals, but rather delivering an influential performance and making a difference in all aspects of the game, both offensively and defensively.

Messi and Alvarez

Yamal praised the level Lionel Messi is delivering in the tournament, confirming that what the Argentine star is offering is "amazing," and also commended Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo, considering that they have inspired an entire generation of players.

Regarding the possibility of Julian Alvarez transferring to Barcelona, Yamal said that the Argentine striker is one of the players any team would want to sign, adding that he would be happy with his joining because he fits with the playing style of the Catalan club, expressing hope that the deal will be completed.
