Senegal national team bid farewell to the World Cup from the round of 32 against Belgium after suffering a 3-2 defeat.

According to the French newspaper L'Équipe, Mane announced his decision through a statement published by Le Quotidien newspaper, confirming the end of his career with the Senegal national team.

Mane's announcement came after Senegal's exit from the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup, in a step that represents the end of one of the most prominent careers in the history of Senegalese football.

Mane is considered one of the most important players of Senegal throughout history, after leading the national team to win the African Cup of Nations title for the first time in its history, in addition to leading it to qualify and participate in more than one edition of the World Cup.

Sadio Mane played 130 matches with the Senegal national team, scoring 54 goals and assisting 29 others.

He achieved the African Cup of Nations title with Senegal, and the ruling in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is awaited from the International Court of Arbitration after the problem that occurred in the Morocco and Senegal match in the Africa Cup of Nations final in Morocco.
