The Spanish national team succeeded in rising to first place in the list of teams participating in the 2026 World Cup, after being crowned champions at the expense of Argentina.
The Spanish national team defeated its rival Argentina by a goal to nil in the 2026 World Cup final, held at New Jersey Stadium in New York, United States of America.
Spain's title-winning goal came in the 106th minute during the second half of extra time, after a wonderful cross from Pedro Porro that reached Nico Williams, who headed it to Ferran Torres who fired it powerfully with his left foot into the net.
The Spanish national team now has two World Cup titles to its name, after winning the 2010 edition held in South Africa and repeating the same achievement in the 2026 edition at the expense of Argentina.
Spain tops the 2026 World Cup teams ranking
The Spanish national team, led by its veteran coach Luis de la Fuente, finished first in the 2026 World Cup teams ranking table, ahead of Argentina who sit in second place.
Meanwhile, the French national team is in third place, followed by the English national team in fourth.
The FIFA ranking issued for the 2026 World Cup teams saw the Moroccan national team in sixth place, followed by Senegal in 18th, while the Egyptian national team was in 24th.
