Belgium coach Rudy Garcia believes that his team is capable of scoring goals against Spain and reaching the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
The Spanish national team faces Belgium at exactly ten o'clock this Friday evening, at Los Angeles Stadium in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
Garcia said at the pre-match press conference: "We will do our utmost to score goals against Spain and reach the semi-finals."
He added, "We are capable of scoring goals; we are the second-highest scoring team in the World Cup, and now we have reached the quarter-finals against a team that has not conceded any goals."
He acknowledged the strength of the Spanish national team: "They are one of the favorites to win the title; they have a strong team and offensive power that we must take into account, but we will not settle for defense only. If we limit ourselves to defense only, Spain will eliminate us."
He continued, "They possess great strength in ball possession, strong character, and the quality of Spanish football is at its peak."
He responded to those who see Spain as closer to qualifying: "Many consider us already out of the competition, but I have great confidence in my team that we will be in the semi-finals."
He added, "We face a team stronger than us, but we will defend ourselves with all our strength and will to achieve victory."
He recounted, "We will not face circumstances more difficult than those we faced in the round of 16; a few days ago we had 12 million fans, and now we have many more."
The Belgian national team played its match against the United States under difficult circumstances, after the decision to cancel the red card for Folarin Balogun and his participation despite being suspended.
Regarding the readiness of his players, he said, "Romelu Lukaku is a player capable of changing the course of the match and striking fear into the hearts of opponents whenever he steps onto the pitch."
He pointed to the readiness of the team captain: "Kevin De Bruyne is ready to face Spain after missing the match against the United States due to injury."
He concluded, "All players are in good physical condition, except for Amadou Onana, which represents a major loss for us. I have two starting lineups: the lineup that will start the match and the lineup that will finish it, and I have a plan for that."
The winner of that match will face France in the semi-finals of the World Cup.
