Al-Mahdi Suleiman, goalkeeper of the Egyptian national team, praised the performance of his teammate Mostafa Shobeir at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Shobeir has been playing as a starter for the Egyptian national team, having participated in all the group stage matches.
Suleiman stated in remarks to the official website of the Football Association, on the sidelines of the final training session: "There is strong and fair competition among the national team's goalkeepers, amid the good spirit uniting all the players."
He added, "It is a great honor for any player to represent their national team at the biggest global stage; I am delighted by Mostafa Shobeir's brilliance with the Egyptian national team."
The Egyptian national team will face Australia at 9:00 PM on Friday in the Round of 16 of the World Cup, scheduled to be held in Dallas, Texas, USA.
Regarding the match against Australia, Al-Mahdi said, "It will be a tough game, given that both sides have great players, and we possess determination and resolve to win and continue our journey to reach the next round."
He concluded, "The ambitions of the Egyptian national team are limitless, and the players will not spare a single drop of sweat to delight the fans and make them proud of their national team."
The Egyptian national team delegation traveled yesterday, Wednesday, from Spokane in Washington State to Dallas in Texas in preparation for facing Australia in the Round of 32 of the World Cup.
The Egyptian national team succeeded in qualifying after finishing second in Group Seven with 7 points, trailing behind the group leaders, the Belgian national team, on goal difference.
The Egyptian national team achieved a 3-1 victory against New Zealand, while drawing with Belgium and Iran with the same scoreline of 1-1.
This marks the first time in history that the Egyptian national team has secured a victory at the World Cup, as well as the first time it has advanced beyond the group stage.
As for the Australian national team, it finished second in Group Four with 4 points, surpassing third-placed Paraguay on goal difference.
The winner of the Egypt vs. Australia match will face the winner of the Argentina vs. Cape Verde match in the Round of 16.
