The Frenchman became the eighth coach to leave coaching his national team after the end of the journey in the 2026 World Cup.

It started with Sabri Lamouchi, the coach of Tunisia, Steve Clarke, the coach of Scotland, Miroslav Koubek, the coach of the Czech Republic, Hyung Myung-bo, the coach of South Korea, Ronald Koeman, the coach of the Netherlands, Sebastián Beccacece, the coach of Ecuador, Marcelo Bielsa, the coach of Uruguay, and finally Renard.

Renard coached Tunisia in the matches against Japan and the Netherlands, losing both with scores of 4-0 and 3-1 respectively, finishing at the bottom of the group.

The Frenchman's journey lasted only 18 days in coaching the Tunisian national team, as he signed a contract until the end of the journey in the 2026 World Cup.
