Walid Regragui, the former head coach of the Morocco national team, cited Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Egypt national team, to emphasize the quality of Arab coaches.

Regragui stated on Athir Network: "Why do we prefer foreign coaches for our Arab national teams? Take the example of the Egypt national team with Hossam Hassan; he reached the World Cup, the Africa Cup of Nations semifinals, and qualified for the Round of 16 in the World Cup, an achievement never before attained by the Pharaohs."
He added, "This demonstrates that quality exists among national coaches. We have competed at the highest levels, so which coach could be better than us or understand our people more than we do?"
He continued, "I do not believe, for instance, that Luis Enrique is better than me simply because he coaches in Europe. I have confidence in myself that I am no less capable than any other coach."
Concluding his remarks, he said, "I possess the experience that qualifies me to coach at the highest levels of football."
Walid Regragui previously led the Morocco national team to achieve the greatest African and Arab accomplishment in World Cup history by reaching the semifinals of the 2018 tournament.
The Egyptian Football Association announced the renewal of Hossam Hassan's contract as the coach of the Egypt national team, ensuring he will continue to lead the Pharaohs until the 2030 World Cup.
