Thomas Tuchel, the head coach of the England national team, stated that players being affected by news circulating about Manchester City is "a natural human reaction."
The England national team is preparing to face Croatia in the third matchday of the UEFA Nations League.
Tuchel responded to journalists' questions saying: "Are the players affected by the news circulating about Manchester City? I don't know if it is a source of distraction or not. That is the honest answer, but of course, the topic is up for discussion; we talk about it during dinner, whether we are sitting in groups of 8 or 12 people, and of course, we talk about it at breakfast. And I know that Manchester City players receive many, many messages, phone calls, and comments regarding this matter."
He added, "Do the City players in the England squad feel worried? I think this is a natural human reaction when you do not know what is happening to the club you signed a contract with. They are still young and ambitious, and they are told their club is completely innocent, while they do not realize the truth of what is going on. So, yes, I think it is a subject that occupies their minds."
Manchester City has been charged with 115 allegations by the English Football Association. These charges revolve around: 54 charges related to providing inaccurate financial information - 35 charges related to failing to cooperate with Premier League investigations - 14 charges related to failing to disclose details of player and manager wages - 7 breaches related to profitability and sustainability rules - 5 breaches related to UEFA regulations.
The England squad list includes from Manchester City both Elliot Anderson, who joined the Sky Blues in the summer, and Marc Guehi, who joined City last January.
The England national team occupies second place with 3 points, ahead of Croatia on goal difference.
Meanwhile, the Spain national team tops the standings with a perfect record of 6 points, and the Czech Republic national team sits at the bottom of the table without any points.
