Tottenham Hotspur entered the race to sign Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson, the Chelsea player, amid Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi's desire to bolster the team's attacking line ahead of the new season.
According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, Jackson is among the names Tottenham is considering to strengthen its attack, although no direct negotiations have taken place between the two clubs so far.
Spurs' management is aware that Chelsea is open to selling the striker during the current transfer window, after he spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, and he appears to be out of the London club's plans this season.
Chelsea values Jackson at around £65 million, with Aston Villa also entering into preliminary talks with the London club regarding a possible deal for the Senegal international.
Tottenham has been interested in Jackson for some time, with the club's admiration for the striker dating back to before De Zerbi took charge of the team.
Tottenham's attacking moves come after the club initially focused during the transfer window on rebuilding the defense and midfield as part of the team-rebuilding project under De Zerbi.
