Al-Diriyah Club, recently promoted to the Saudi League, announced the signing of Senegalese international Idrissa Gana Gueye to bolster the squad for the new 2026-2027 season.
Everton English Club announced at the end of last July the departure of the veteran Senegalese player from its ranks after seven seasons spent with the Blue Club.

Al-Diriyah Club posted a video on its official X account announcing the completion of the Idrissa Gueye deal, showing the player wearing the team’s jersey.
Al-Diriyah wrote in its post on the social media platform: “Here in the cradle of champions.. from the vessel of glory to ‘Idrissa Gueye’ a cup of coffee”.
In another tweet, the newly promoted Pro League club wrote: “He accepts nothing but the grand feasts.. when needed, for the sake of his glory he spreads his wings and soars, Idrissa Gana, a bird among the birds of fortune”.
Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper had earlier reported that Al-Diriyah had finalized an agreement with the Senegalese player to sign a one-year contract with an option to extend for an additional season.
The 36-year-old player has played 569 matches in his football career, including 30 matches in the UEFA Champions League, in addition to 135 matches for the Senegal national team.
Idrissa Gueye has previously represented Lille and Paris Saint-Germain in the French league, and Aston Villa and Everton in the English league, delivering standout performances.
