Haitham Hassan, the winger of the Egyptian national team and Spanish Real Oviedo, revealed the reasons for choosing to represent the Pharaohs, instead of France or Tunisia.

Haitham Hassan said in statements on the "Al-Hekaya" program broadcast on "MBC Egypt" channel: "My playing style has developed, because I used to play in the neighborhood where I live with my friends since I was young."
And about his choice to play for the Egyptian national team instead of Tunisia and France: "The Egyptian national team is the strongest African team, of course it is an honor for me to represent France and Tunisia."
He continued: "Because of the quality of the players in the Egyptian national team, you cannot refuse to represent the Pharaohs, and because my father loves football and adores the Egyptian national team."
It is worth noting that the 24-year-old player had participated for the first time with the Pharaohs in the 2026 World Cup against Australia, in the round of 32 of the World Cup, in the match that the Egyptian national team won on penalties.
