Saudi Jeddah Union Club announced the completion of the contract with German coach Jens Fissing, to lead the first team, starting from the next season 2026/2027.
Al-Ittihad had officially dismissed Conceição from his position after the end of the season, as the departure decision came due to the decline in results, after finishing the season in fifth place, and exiting the AFC Champions League Elite competition in the quarter-finals.
Jeddah Union announces the appointment of Jens Fissing as coach
The Saudi Al-Ittihad Club published welcoming photos and videos for the young German coach, who achieved remarkable successes with his former club, Gamba Osaka of Japan.
The official statement for the appointment of the new coach stated the following: "Al-Ittihad Club officially announces the contract with German coach Jens Fissing, to assume the technical leadership of the first football team with a contract extending until 2028".
He added: "Sports Director Mr. Frank Carriou welcomed coach Jens Fissing, affirming his confidence in his technical abilities to lead the team during the upcoming phase, and wishing him and all team members success in achieving the aspirations of Al-Ittihad's loyal fans".
In his first comment via the official Al-Ittihad Club account, Jens Fissing said: "Every beginning carries a new challenge, and this is the challenge I have chosen".
The young German coach added: "From the very first moment, I recognized the heritage of this club and the magnitude of the responsibility carried by this emblem".
He continued: "I believe that challenges create the greatest achievements, and I am here to take on this challenge with passion and to build a team worthy of Al-Ittihad".
Jens Fissing indicated: "And achieves its great aspirations, I am Jens Fissing and you are my first bet, the impossible is not Al-Ittihadi".
Under his leadership, the Japanese Gamba Osaka team had won the AFC Champions League 2 title, after defeating Saudi Al-Nassr in the final match (2-1).
