A source within the Professional Clubs Association spoke about the idea of reducing the number of league clubs to 18 teams according to the vision of the Egyptian national team technical staff led by Hossam Hassan.
Ibrahim Hassan, the Egypt national team manager, had revealed in statements that the technical staff submitted a proposal to reduce the number of clubs in the Egyptian league to 18 clubs, as well as reducing the number of foreigners.

An official source in the Clubs Association confirmed in his statements to "Yalla Koura" that there is no intention to change the league competition system, whether in the current season or the next season.
He indicated that the tournament will start with the participation of 20 clubs, and after the first round, the teams will be divided into two groups.
The source added: "The league in the 2027-2028 season will return to its normal system with the participation of 19 clubs and will be held in a system of two full rounds (home and away)."
He concluded: "The Clubs Association always seeks to help the Egyptian national team in the coming period in order to complete the successes achieved by the technical staff of the national team."
It is scheduled that the draw for the Egyptian Premier League for the new season "2026-2027" will be held at three o'clock in the afternoon next Wednesday.
