The match saw a goal disallowed for the Egyptian national team in the 60th minute, after a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), with a potential foul inside the Argentina penalty area not awarded, which ignited the ongoing controversy over the refereeing and the truth of favoritism toward the Tango dancers.
Argentina investigates hacking incident due to Egypt match
One of the correspondents for "The Athletic" newspaper received one of these hacked messages, which included the message, written in English, titled "System Hack: Unfair Decision," and began with the phrase "This hack will not go unpunished."
The Argentine Football Association confirmed on Thursday that it is investigating an incident in which emails may have been sent from one of its accounts, which "were not created or authorized by our team."
According to what was reported by "The Athletic" network, the Egyptian national team's position aligns with the email sent by hackers through the accounts of the Egyptian Football Association.
The Argentine victory was described, based on the hacked message, as "stolen," as the message addressed to the world began with the phrase: "Security is an illusion, just like the integrity of that match."
The message described the match as "90 minutes of unfair refereeing," and claimed that Egypt's coach "was targeted for his solidarity with Palestine," as Hossam Hassan has repeatedly used his platform to show support for Palestine, including during the World Cup.
The email concluded by saying: "If justice is not achieved on the field, do not expect peace in your networks; consider this message a permanent record of our protest."
