The Spanish club Eldense officially announced that Lionel Messi has acquired its shares and become the new owner of the club.

The club clarified in its statement that the deal remains subject to obtaining the necessary clearance and approval from the Supreme Council for Sports, in accordance with the terms and conditions stipulated in the Sports Law.

The approval remains conditional because Messi owns another Spanish club, Cornella, since last April.

Meanwhile, the Sports Law in Spain prohibits the same person or legal entity from owning more than 5% of the shares in more than one club.

Eldense currently participates in the Spanish Second Division.

The former Barcelona star will begin a new chapter in his career within Spanish football, but this time through investment and club ownership, after many years spent as a player on Spanish pitches.

The rivalry between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, which has lasted for more than 15 years, moves from the pitch to the boardroom.

Ronaldo owns Almería, which plays against Eldense in the Spanish Second Division.

The first league match between the two teams saw Almería win 3-0.

Eldense occupies the 19th position with 5 points, which is one of the relegation spots.
