Lionel Messi, the star of the Argentine national team and American club Inter Miami, has successfully acquired ownership of Spanish club Eldense.

An official statement from Eldense read: "The club officially announces the acquisition by Lionel Messi, marking the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in the history of a club that spans more than a century."

Eldense noted that this deal is subject to obtaining the necessary approvals from Spain's Higher Sports Council, in accordance with the conditions stipulated by sports law.

It added: "The entry of one of the most prominent figures in sports history into professional football in Spain as a club owner signals the start of a long-term project aimed at driving the sporting, institutional, and social development of the club."

Eldense concluded its statement: "The club begins this new phase with the ambition to consolidate its position and achieve growth in professional football, while simultaneously ensuring the highlighting of its roots, history, and the spirit of 'Azulgrana' (the club colors: blue and red)."

Eldense, founded in 1921, competes in the Spanish second division, currently occupying 19th place out of 22 teams with 5 points after the first seven rounds.

Thus, Eldense becomes the second club in the Spanish second division whose ownership Lionel Messi has successfully acquired, following Sabadell.
