Álvarez did not feature in Atlético Madrid's match against Sevilla last Saturday in the Spanish league, which ended in a 3-1 victory for Atlético Madrid.

Simeone said in remarks carried by the newspaper "Sport" about Álvarez: "Álvarez is in a special situation, and I want to reaffirm that we will try to help him on the sporting level, and we hope he will also help us, because he is an exceptional player."
In a related context, Atlético Madrid player Alex Baena believes that his team does not miss Álvarez, adding: "Do we miss Julián? No, the team played very well against Sevilla. I think the starters and the substitutes performed brilliantly, and we are waiting for Julián to recover after the past few days of his health issue, and we are waiting for him here to join the team."
Less than 48 hours remain until the end of the summer transfer window, with Álvarez set to stay with Atlético Madrid, as the player has refused to move to Arsenal and return to England again.
