The Moroccan national team received a strong blow before facing France in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, after technical director Mohamed Wahbi announced the absence of striker Ismail Sibari due to the injury he sustained during the match against Canada in the round of 16.

Wahbi said, during the press conference for the match, that the technical staff will not risk any player who is not 100% ready, explaining that all team members are available except Sibari.

Wahbi expressed hope that the player would join the rest of the tournament if the Atlas Lions qualify.

The Morocco coach affirmed that his team is not thinking of settling for what it has achieved so far, rejecting the notion that France is the only favorite to qualify.

He added: "We will play to win and reach the semi-finals, and the real reward for us is winning the World Cup."

The Moroccan national team is preparing to face France this Thursday evening in a match with a vengeful character, after losing to the Roosters in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
