Mustafa Shobier, the goalkeeper of the Egyptian national team, continues to write historical numbers alongside the "Pharaohs" in the 2026 World Cup, currently held in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.
Shobier was able to lead the Egyptian national team to qualify for the round of 16 for the first time in history, after three previous editions, namely: 1934, 1990, and 2018.
The Egyptian national team had reached the round of 16 after defeating the Australian national team in the round of 32 on penalties with a score of 4-2, following a 1-1 draw at the end of regular and extra time.
The Egyptian national team is scheduled to play against its Argentine counterpart on Tuesday evening at seven o'clock Cairo time, as the "Tango" team's qualification came after defeating the Cape Verde national team with a score of 3-2.
Looking at the ranking of the best goalkeepers in the 2026 World Cup, the Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa tops the list, according to what was stated on the official website of the International Federation of Football Associations "FIFA".
Mustafa Shobier's presence continued among the top 10 goalkeepers in the World Cup, as he leads the goalkeepers of the Arab teams in this edition.
The current edition features the presence of eight Arab teams, namely: Egypt, Qatar, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Iraq, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.
Another Arab goalkeeper is on the list, namely the Moroccan Yassine Bounou, who occupies the seventh place, as the goalkeeper of the "Atlas Lions" national team is delivering outstanding performances.
Bounou had contributed to the Moroccan national team's reaching the quarterfinals after defeating the Canadian national team yesterday, Saturday, with three goals to nil.
The Moroccan goalkeeper also played a distinguished role in his country's national team reaching the round of 16 after overcoming the Netherlands national team on penalties with a score of 3-2, as the match ended in regular and extra time with a score of 1-1.
