Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about the anticipated atmosphere for the final match of internationally retired star Lionel Messi in the national team jersey next Wednesday.
The Argentine national team will play a friendly match early Wednesday morning against Benin, which will serve as a farewell game for Messi, who announced his retirement from international football in a statement published via social media at the end of last August.

Scaloni said in comments published by the Argentine outlet "Tyc": "I imagine that Tuesday's match will be charged with emotion for everyone, including Leo. It will be an unforgettable day. It is his day, and also the day of his teammates, who gave him his greatest footballing joys. I am grateful that I will be able to enjoy these moments."
He added: "I imagine that if there were five stadiums the size of the Monumental, they would all be filled with fans. We can barely keep up with the incoming messages. I wish people would realize what Messi provides on the pitch, because that is what we will miss the most."
He noted: "We have always talked about the feeling of nostalgia that will overcome us when the time comes for him to leave. Well, that moment has arrived now. I imagine everyone will be emotionally moved, with him among them."
He emphasized: "From the moment he sets foot on the Monumental pitch, it will be an unforgettable day for everyone. I am grateful to be part of this day. We still have two training sessions with him, so we will enjoy the little time remaining."
The Argentina coach continued speaking about Messi, saying: "His legacy lies in that constant drive to be present and involved. He was always the first to arrive at the pitch and the last to leave."
He stressed: "His way of taking care of himself and his approach to playing every match—things others might not notice but his teammates understand—make him an exemplary figure in the best possible way. He leaves behind a truly unique legacy."
He concluded: "We must continue playing, but the feeling of having Messi with us on the pitch is special. I have never seen anyone radiate the energy and impact he does while playing, and that is precisely what we will miss. Nevertheless, the journey of the Argentine national team will continue."
