Sara Samir wins two gold medals for Egypt
Sara Samir won two gold medals in the 77 kg weightlifting category, after claiming gold in the snatch and gold in the clean and jerk.
Sara Samir secured the gold medal in the under-77 kg snatch weightlifting event after lifting 110 kg, before adding a new gold in the 77 kg clean and jerk event after lifting 137 kg.
This victory brought the Egyptian delegation’s total to 50 medals at the Mediterranean Games, comprising 20 gold, 14 silver, and 16 bronze.
The Egyptian delegation is competing in 23 sports at the Mediterranean Games: archery, athletics, badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, canoeing and kayaking, equestrian, fencing, water sports and short course swimming, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate, padel, rowing, sailing, shooting, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, fin swimming, and amateur sliding.
