Sports newspaper revealed today positive developments regarding Barcelona club's negotiations with Manchester City, regarding contracting with Rodri, as the latter expressed his desire to wear the Blaugrana shirt.

Barcelona outperformed Real Madrid in the Rodri deal, making the Blaugrana now the top candidate to sign the World Cup champion.

Sport confirmed that all expectations point to Rodri's transfer to Barcelona being completed officially within the next 48 hours, as Barça's goal now is to reach an agreement with Manchester City next Wednesday.

It added that negotiations are progressing rapidly between Barcelona and Manchester City, with the aim of having the player available as soon as possible, alongside his Spanish national team teammates in the Catalan club.

Rodri has already agreed to personal terms with Barcelona and to sign a four-season contract, and now only the agreement with Manchester City remains before the official announcement.

It explained that Rodri has amicably requested to leave Manchester City, while the player is highly valued inside Sky Blue, so the deal will be attempted to be completed as soon as possible.

Rodri is well aware that his career in England has ended and the time has now come to return to Spain.

Manchester City rejected Barcelona's first offer to sign Rodri, which was for 45 million euros, and although some reports mentioned that the English club values the player at around 80 million euros, the deal could be settled for 65 million euros including add-ons.

Sport added that Rodri has finished his summer vacation in Ibiza and is now ready to travel to Barcelona within the coming hours, once he obtains Manchester City's approval to undergo medical tests with the Blaugrana, while both clubs enjoy an excellent relationship and the Catalan club hopes the deal will be completed next Wednesday.

The newspaper continued, saying that Rodri will be the key to Casadó's departure from Barcelona, as the player was excluded from the Udinese match during the triangular friendly, and Tomi Márquez will also demand to leave Barça on loan in search of regular playing time.

Barcelona insisted on keeping Marc Bernal, as the Catalan club is confident that the young player will get enough playing time to develop alongside Rodri.

Frenkie de Jong's situation on the other hand is very bad, due to his injury and the uncertainty of his position after recovery, so the Dutch international will likely get limited playing time next season.
