The English website "Spurs Web" highlighted Omar Marmoush's impressive performance while playing for the Egyptian national team during the current international break, noting that his form with the "Pharaohs" once again demonstrated the reasons why manager Roberto De Zerbi insisted on signing him.
The site explained that Marmoush's start at Tottenham had not been as expected since his move from Manchester City, particularly given the team's attacking struggles in the early weeks of the season. However, the player appeared completely different when wearing the Egypt jersey.
Marmoush scored two goals in Egypt's 5-0 victory over South Sudan in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, earning a rating of 9.2 out of 10 according to the statistics website "FotMob".
The report noted that Marmoush displayed exceptional individual skill against South Sudan, dribbling past defenders before narrowly missing a spectacular goal.
The English site believes this performance reflects Marmoush's capabilities when he is at his best, although the match was against a lower-level opponent, emphasizing that Tottenham fans have yet to see the player's best version with the club.
Marmoush featured for Tottenham at the start of the season but has not yet registered any goals or assists in the Premier League, while his standout performance with Egypt provided a morale boost before returning to London.
Marmoush is still adapting to the atmosphere at Tottenham and De Zerbi's style of play, especially having joined the team late in the transfer window. The site suggested that scoring his first goal for the club could give him further confidence.
De Zerbi previously spoke about Marmoush following his move to Tottenham, confirming that he possesses significant attacking quality, along with speed, intelligence, and the ability to play in various positions—factors the Italian manager believes can provide additional solutions in the forward line.
