Via FilGoal

Football Insider revealed that there is a clause in Enzo Maresca's contract with Manchester City allowing him to leave.

The site clarified that the clause in the Italian coach's contract with his English club allows him to leave at the end of the season if the club is punished with a points deduction.

And that Maresca will activate this clause if Manchester City is punished with relegation to the lower division, following the cases in which the club is accused.

Maresca is delivering an outstanding performance with Manchester City this season and tops the Premier League, having won all his matches across various competitions so far.

Manchester City faces the risk of relegation to the second tier due to being charged in 114 cases related to financial breaches.

Football Insider revealed that Manchester City is planning for its worst-case scenario, which is relegation.

Manchester City issued a statement to respond to the charges brought against it by the Premier League.

Among the 115 charges brought against Manchester City, 35 were related to failure to cooperate with Premier League investigations.

Manchester City revealed in its statement: "Manchester City Football Club is disappointed and surprised by the opinion of the Premier League Commission published today."

The Premier League announced in an official statement that Manchester City is guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the league's financial rules over nine seasons, and most charges related to its lack of cooperation with the league investigation between 2009 and 2018, by entering into sham contracts with several commercial partners, providing misleading accounts, concealing its financial position, and violating spending limits set by the Premier League and UEFA. After the charges are proven, the club has the right to appeal the independent commission's findings, and has until Friday, October 2, to exercise this right, while the Premier League Board intends to complete the entire process as quickly as possible.

Manchester City responded: "The Club affirms its innocence from the charges brought against it by the Premier League, and possesses conclusive and comprehensive evidence supporting all its positions regarding this case. Therefore, the Club will continue its diligent struggle and take proactive measures when necessary before all relevant regulatory and legal bodies."

The club's statement added: "Premier League proceedings are still ongoing, with important elements remaining incomplete. Manchester City Club will now resort to all available avenues of appeal, on the basis that the opinion contains clear fundamental errors in law, principles, and facts, and is unsound."

It continued: "The Club has seriously respected due process for eight years on the assumption that the Premier League Board and Executive would act as an independent, impartial, fair, and non-partisan regulatory body."

Manchester City's statement concluded: "It is clear that the Club is restricted in what it can say further until all future proceedings are completed."

Manchester City Club was charged with 115 counts by the FA, and these allegations revolve around: 54 charges related to providing inaccurate financial information - 35 charges related to failure to cooperate with Premier League investigations - 14 charges related to non-disclosure of player and manager salary details - 7 breaches related to profitability and sustainability rules - 5 breaches related to UEFA regulations.

What are the potential sanctions for Manchester City?

Potential sanctions according to Premier League regulations range from financial fines and points deductions, up to exclusion from the Premier League.

Points deductions can be applied retroactively, which may open the door to the possibility of stripping Manchester City of some of its previous titles.

Manchester City is preparing to appeal the decision within the next few days.

The FA accused the club of failing to provide accurate financial information, along with breaches related to payments to players and managers, and rules concerning Financial Fair Play, profitability, and sustainability.

Manchester City Club denied all charges brought against it, affirming confidence in its legal position.
