The Australian Ange Postecoglou, the new coach of Al-Nassr team, hopes that the next season will be the best ever in his career.
Postecoglou took over the coaching of the team succeeding the Portuguese Jorge Jesus, who left the club after the end of his one-season contract during which the yellow team clinched the Saudi League title.
Postecoglou said in statements reported by the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya: "The important thing for me is that I enjoyed my entire career, and I enjoy getting new challenges and competitions, working with different people and developing with that".
He added, "The challenge is always the same no matter what the team's situation is. I have previously coached teams that were not successful and made them successful, and other teams that were successful and I continued success with them, and for me the most important thing was to have a good relationship with the people I worked with at the clubs".
The Australian coach, who has previously worked at many clubs including Tottenham in England, continued: "I have worked a lot in Asia, and I come from this part of the world, and when I worked in Europe I always said that all the success I achieved was difficult, and this does not mean that it was easy with the Asian teams, and I faced difficulties and challenges in every tournament we won".
Regarding his challenges with Al-Nassr in his first season, Postecoglou replied, "The Saudi League has developed a lot over the past few years, and there are now 4, 5, and 6 clubs all very competitive and wanting to win, and the AFC Champions League Elite is also a high challenge, so being with a team that has some stability is important".
Postecoglou touched on the Al-Nassr era under the leadership of its Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, saying: "Jesus did exceptional work last season to win the league, and now the club is ready to go to the next level, so I am here".
The Australian coach continued: "Every year is something new for me, and in this way I have achieved a lot of success in my career, and in every new season I started with the same mindset".
The Al-Nassr coach continued: "It does not matter what I achieved in the past, and it is important that we win something, and any club or any person when they win something and taste it, they want it again, but the most important thing is to remember what you did to achieve that and how much hard work and sacrifices you made".
He went on, "For me, I start every year with the same mindset, and I want it to be the best year ever for me, the club, and the people I work with, and this is how we will start our work".
Regarding the meaning of his statement "I always win in the second season", Postecoglou replied: "I said it when many people did not believe that we could win anything, and I was at Tottenham, which had not won any title in 17 years at the time, and had not won a European title in 40 years, and I said it because I was then in my second season with them, and when I was at Celtic we won the double in my first season, and I made this statement because I wanted to confirm to everyone that I knew we could win a title with Tottenham, a club that was not known for winning trophies".
Postecoglou added, "For me, it does not matter whether it is my first, second, or third year, and in every year I coach, I want to win titles, but it is not only about winning but also about how to achieve it and how you play football".
