Spanish international Dani Olmo refused to involve himself in the controversy surrounding the Egypt vs Argentina match in the 2026 World Cup, confirming that he does not wish to comment on what happened.
Olmo said in statements reported by Marca newspaper: "I watched part of the match, and there will always be controversy, but it's not my concern to delve into that, and we must focus only on the matters that are under our control".
Olmo added, during the press conference for the match against Belgium in the World Cup quarterfinals, that he is happy with his role with the Spanish national team, confirming that he always strives to prove his abilities and help the team on the pitch.
He praised his teammates Lamine Yamal and Pedri, noting that the first continues to develop and make a difference, while the second represents an indispensable element thanks to his quality and influence on the team's performance.
The Spanish midfielder confirmed that his country's national team is not preoccupied with what other teams are doing, but focuses on developing its level, stressing that the match against Belgium will be extremely difficult due to the distinguished elements the opponent possesses, and that the only goal currently is to qualify for the semifinals.
The Egyptian national team had exited the World Cup in the round of 16, after an epic match against Argentina that ended with the world champions winning with difficulty by a score of 3-2.
