The South African Football Association announced today, Friday, the end of Belgian coach Hugo Broos's journey with Bafana Bafana.
Hugo Broos decided not to renew his contract with the South African national team.
Broos leaves South Africa after the end of his five-year contract, making him the longest-serving coach in charge of Bafana Bafana.
Broos said in a press conference: "The past few days have been very sad for me because moments of loneliness and the long periods I spent away from my family have become very difficult for me, and this is the only reason for my departure".
He added: "I leave behind wonderful people I worked with over the past five years, and I have received a lot of praise and gratitude from the South African public, I will always be grateful for that".
Hugo Broos achieved the bronze medal in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and also led South Africa to the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time.
