The Portuguese Football Federation announced today, Friday, the appointment of Jorge Jesus as coach of the first team, succeeding the Spaniard Roberto Martínez.
Roberto Martínez had decided to leave the coaching of Portugal following the World Cup exit from the round of 16 with a loss to Spain.
The official account of the Portugal national team wrote on the "X" website: "A new journey begins today, welcome to the national team, coach Jorge Jesus".
Jorge Jesus coached many clubs during his career, the most prominent of which are: Benfica and Sporting Lisbon of Portugal, Flamengo of Brazil, Fenerbahçe of Turkey, Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia.
Jesus had taken over the coaching of Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal, in his last experience with Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia.
