The Ivorian Football Federation announced this Tuesday evening the official return of French coach Hervé Renard to coaching the Côte d'Ivoire national team for a second term, after winning the Africa Cup of Nations with the Elephants in 2015.
The Ivorian Federation stated in its statement that Renard, the African champion with Côte d'Ivoire in 2015, returns to lead the Elephants, tasked with directing the national team in preparations and participation in upcoming international tournaments.
Coach Renard is expected to arrive in Abidjan in the coming days to officially assume his duties, and he will be presented to the media and the sports public in a press conference whose date and location will be announced later.
Renard assumes the task of coaching Côte d'Ivoire, succeeding coach Emerse Faé, whose contract ended on July 31, 2026 and was not renewed, after leading the Elephants to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil, then leading the team to the round of 32 in the World Cup.
The former Ivorian international player chose not to continue in this task; meanwhile, Renard participated in two matches in the World Cup this summer as an emergency substitute for his compatriot Sabri Lamouchi on the bench of the Tunisian national team.
