The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that Nigeria has been granted the honor of hosting the awards ceremony for the best in Africa for 2026.

The CAF Executive Committee, chaired by Patrice Motsepe, held a virtual meeting on Friday evening, October 2, 2026, to take several decisions.

Among the files reviewed by the executive committee members was determining the date and venue for the awards ceremony for the best in Africa for the previous year.

The Executive Committee confirmed that the 2026 CAF Awards ceremony will be held in Lagos, Nigeria, on Monday, December 7, 2026.

CAF also stated in an official announcement that Nigeria will host the ordinary General Assembly meeting of the confederation on Saturday, November 21, 2026.

CAF is expected to announce the nominees for this year's awards in the coming weeks, a year that saw outstanding performances by African national teams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

It is worth noting that Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan international and Paris Saint-Germain player, won the Best Player in Africa award for 2025, while his teammate from the Atlas Lions, Yassine Bounou, won the Best Goalkeeper award.
