Al Ahly's management will sign the contracts for the team's friendly match against Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Cup within hours, according to what FilGoal.com learned.

FilGoal.com learned that an Al Ahly delegation flew to the city of Barcelona to sign the match contracts.

The match will be held on August 19 next on Camp Nou stadium.

The match is expected to be at the end of Al Ahly's training camp in Spain, which begins on August 6 next.

This comes after the camp was supposed to start in late July, but the match against Barcelona made Al Ahly's management change the camp's date.

Barcelona is expected to field its main team against Al Ahly, as the match takes place a few days before the start of the campaign to defend the Spanish League title.

Days ago, an official source at Al Ahly Club revealed that the Reds are close to reaching an agreement with Spanish Barcelona to play a Joan Gamper Cup match.

The source told FilGoal.com: "We are close to reaching an agreement with Barcelona to play a Joan Gamper Cup match on the sidelines of the team's preparation camp in Spain."

Spanish newspaper Marca had previously revealed that Al Ahly's participation comes as part of the agreement between the two clubs in the deal for Al Ahly player Hamza Abdel Karim, who transferred to Barcelona.

Thus, Al Ahly will be the first or an Arab team to participate in the Joan Gamper Cup since the tournament's system was introduced in 1997.

Al Ahly and Barcelona have met twice in friendlies, the first in 2007 which ended with Barcelona winning 4-0 during the celebration of Al Ahly's centenary, while Al Ahly lost 4-1 in another friendly held at Wembley Stadium in 2009.

Al Ahly announced the appointment of Moroccan Hussein Ammouta as the team's technical director starting from next season.

Al Ahly also announced the signing of the duo Ali Mahmoud and Oktay Abdullah coming from Enppi, and Moroccan Sofiane Benjdida, striker of Maghreb Fez.
