The Jordan Football Association officially announced Jamal Salami's departure from coaching the Nashama.
The Moroccan coach led the Jordan national team at the 2026 World Cup in America, from which they exited in the group stage.
The Moroccan website le360 revealed that Jamal Salami apologized to Zamalek Club for not assuming the technical director position after studying the offer presented to him.
The report indicated that Jamal Salami received an offer from Zamalek officials to lead the team but apologized and decided not to experience the Egyptian league at the present time.
Zamalek had opened negotiations with the former Jordan national team coach following the failure of talks with Portuguese Alexandre Santos, who preferred to move to Kuwaiti club Al-Kuwait, making Salami one of the most prominent names on the negotiating table.
Salami led the Jordan national team to a historic achievement by qualifying for the first time to the 2026 World Cup finals, and also secured qualification with them to the 2027 Asian Cup finals, successes that prompted the Jordan Football Association to grant him Jordanian citizenship in appreciation of what he achieved with the national team.
The Jordan national team lost its three matches at the World Cup against Argentina, Algeria, and Austria.
This was the first participation of the Jordan national team in the World Cup.
Jamal Salami had previously led the Jordan national team to the final of the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar, before losing to Morocco.
Salami previously coached Raja and won the Moroccan league title with them, and also reached the semi-finals of the African Champions League with the team.
